About Kijabe Hospital

Kijabe Hospital is the largest of five hospitals sponsored by the African Inland Church (AIC), and was initially established in 1915 on the edge of the Rift Valley adjacent to Rift Valley Academy (RVA).  Kijabe is located approximately one hour west of Nairobi.  It is a leading hospital in East Africa providing care and expertise in multiple surgical and clinical areas.  In addition, the hospital is a leader in residency education in the region.

The vision of Kijabe Hospital is "To be a Leader in the Provision of Excellent Health Care in Sub-Saharan Africa, to God's Glory."  To achieve this mission and vision, the hospital relies on by Kenyan and foreign trained mission staff.  A significant proportion of the mission staff are short-term volunteers (many from the US) who come for intervals between two-weeks to two-years.

The pathology laboratory is primarily staffed by (and dependent upon) volunteer pathologist who donate their time to serve at Kijabe.  Kenyan trained histology staff provide technical services to process and make H&E slides.
